GOOD FIT
“I went back to the engine. That day in Year Two in the Transport Museum. I went back to the big, scary one with no extraneous parts. I turned it on, even though we weren’t meant to touch it. I turned it on and let it run. It was making the most spine-crippling sound but I couldn’t stop watching it work. I wanted its presence to make sense. Billy starts crying, Mohammed pulls at my jacket, and Miss Giovanelli’s running over, about to pass out from the sound of herself. But I just... I was stuck in it. I couldn’t look away. I needed to understand.”
